The beginning of the school year is always a crazy time for teachers. Combine that with tons of shows and new work…and all of the “free time” that we had was gone. The blog may have suffered, but the art did not. We hope you enjoy the pictures and the recap of what September 2017 had to offer.
Wissahickon Brewing Company Show
September 1, 2017- September 30, 2017
Golden Key Prints was the Artist of the month at the Wissahickon Brewing Company. It was the first time all of the etchings have been grouped together and displayed as a series. A number of friends came out for the opening and it was a great time!
Every Tuesday in September 2017
Supper Sessions was the first show that we ever did as Golden Key Prints back in 2016. This year, we had a little more experience and we chose to do all four dates. The weather held up for two out of four nights but it was still a success for us. We were lucky enough to table next to Paul Carpenter, who gave us great advice, merch, and a few beers.
PECO Second Saturday
September 9, 2017
PECO Second Saturdays at Second State Press is a free public program that allows families and students to come together and learn about printmaking every second Saturday of the month. Scott wrote a lesson plan and got to teach the Saturday course this month (overachiever!). The kids were very responsive and even the parents got involved. The lesson centered around cleaning up the environment and the kids screen printed picture of trash and ways to dispose of it!
PHL Music Fest
September 21, 2017- September 22, 2017
At the Art for the Cash Poor show we did back in June, we met some cool people involved with InLiquid, a nonprofit collective dedicated to helping local artists gain exposure. A contact reached out to us about participating in a music festival. We had no idea what to expect but we signed on. The weekend was a lot of work but it was a crazy good time. Plus there was a FREAKIN DONUT WALL!
As you can see, it was a crazy month. We will try to stay on top of it for the month of October!
